What Do You Do When Your Hands Start To Fail?
It all started when I began to experience difficulty with my hands. Just part of aging I guess! First it was numbness, then pain, then actual weakness in my hands.
This is tough when you operate a nursery business and pruning is part of your daily activities.
I will make this story short! We found a manufacturer to make us a line of pruners for people like me. And... we are now making them available to others who need a set of pruners which are easier on the hands.

My Nursery Business
I have spent most of my life working with trees, shrubs and other plants. My wife and I own and operate a tree business in Canada, Nova Scotia to be exact. And before developing the nursery business I grew up on and operated a fruit orchard.
So you see... pruning has been a very large part of my life. Pruning is one of the best cultural methods to optimize fruit trees for good production and to improve the shape and form of ornamental plants for market. It is a study all in its own and is really quite amazing how we are able to alter and manage the growth patterns of plants with pruning and other cultural activities.
Thankfully, pruning has been something I have enjoyed a great deal. I still love to get into it and spend a few hours in my nursery. We no longer operate fruit orchards but still have about 75 acres of nursery tree production.

Pruning for people with hand mobility problems - Arthritis and Carpal Tunnel syndrome
Over the past few years I have had increasing difficulty with my hands. Part of it is arthritis and the other part is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Between these two disorders it has made pruning more difficult and often painful. If you have ever suffered from this you will understand what I mean.
Pain and numbness in the hands can make normal activities quite challenging. For me, pruning is one of the "most normal" of my daily activities and one I hang on to as my hands became decreasingly functional. It also affects computer keyboard use and driving a vehicle.
About a year ago I began searching the world for a tool that would make pruning easier. We found a manufacturer who would produce an ergonomically designed pruner that would make pruning easier for me and other people like me.
Because we know that there are many people who share this problem, (we are in an aging population in North America), we decided to have these produced and make them commercially available. This was the gestation and birth of our ergonomic pruners.

Pruners for Aging "Bloomers"
A friend of mine refers to these as “Pruners for Aging Bloomers”!
We do not make any claims that these will solve your hand mobility problems but they will make pruning easier and more tolerable. If you love to garden like I do and pruning has become problematic you may wish to try these out. I use them every day and just love them. And I will tell you, I have spent most of my life using what I consider to be the very best brand of pruners on the market.
But... I have completely switched over now to my TGF pruners and these have made pruning a lot easier for me.
